Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Whipped Cream

Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Whipped Cream is just what you need for cold winter nights wrapping gifts in front of the fireplace. Ready in 10 minutes! | The Teatime Baker | #hotchocolatefromscratch #peppermintwhippedcream

Merry Christmas!! I’m super excited to start wrapping presents this week. We’re getting our tree this weekend and I have all my wrapping paper picked out. I LOVE giftwrapping. Like, seriously love it. This year I decided that Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Whipped Cream is the perfect accompaniment for nights wrapping those shiny gifts. Last year in a strange twist of fate the kids ended up at Grandma and Grandpa’s house on a weekday morning. I spent that time wrapping every present I could find, drinking hot chocolate and watching Harry Potter. It felt like a super fun date with myself to celebrate the holidays.

Check out this super cute wrapping paper I found at Marshalls. It’s been really nice to have a Marshalls in town. I have to make sure I don’t go too often or I’ll spend all the money! Last year I learned that they have awesome gift wrap so I made sure to stop there to pick out my stash for this year. I don’t go with a major theme for gift wrap but I like all my colors to coordinate. Last year we picked out the cutest little hipster dog paper that made Connor super happy. In case you’re wondering I’m not getting paid by Marshalls to rave about them (but if you ever read this Marshalls marketing team I’d be thrilled to!)

Cranberry Spice Tea

Cranberry Spice Tea is fresh & bright with a tart cranberry base topped with orange juice and spiced with cinnamon and cloves. It's the holidays in a drink! | The Teatime Baker | Winter Tea | Holiday Drinks | Thanksgiving | #cranberryspicetea #holidaytea

It has suddenly started to feel like winter here in Ohio. We’ve had days of rain and even a few snowflakes. This is time of year when I start digging in the freezer for last year’s cranberries so we can cuddle up on the couch with cups of Cranberry Spice Tea! I saw a recipe similar to this one in a tiny holiday flip book on the counter of a local bulk food store years ago. It sounded delicious and I wanted to make it, but I could never find that little book or recipe again. The store is closed now but I’ve been making my Cranberry Spice Tea for several years now.

Contrary to it’s name there’s no actual tea in this recipe. I have seen some recipes like this with black tea or apples but I’ve never tried it. This tea is so fresh and bright with its tart cranberry base mellowed with orange juice and spiced with cinnamon and cloves. To me this is the taste of the Holiday and winter seasons rolled up in a drink.
